Hi,
I have installed the latest xen-4.2-unstable and am using the Remus version that comes with it. I have a Dom0 and DomU kernel version 3.0.0-16-generic-pae. Currently the disk of the virtual machine is not being protected and the disk image is present on an NFS shared directory.
When i try to run remus using the command "remus -i 500 xenguestimage 10.0.0.186" and then when i ping the virtual machine "xenguestimage" that is being protected by Xen i do not see any increase in ping time with increasing checkpoint interval. Why is remus not buffering network packets ? Am i doing anything wrong ? I also tried running a simple python server application inside the virtual machine that is being protected by Remus. This application responds to requests from clients. I observe the same phenomenon; the latency of the response from the server application does not increase with increasing checkpoint duration.
Here are the ping times i obtained with increasing checkpoint duration:
Checkping Interval(ms) Avg. Ping Time(ms)
100ms 6.4075
200ms 14.7715
300ms 9.43896
400ms 12.2981
500ms 25.221
600ms 23.3335
and here are the response time from the python server:
Checkping Interval(ms) Avg. Response Time(ms)
100ms 11.5
200ms 14.8
300ms 12.5
400ms 15.0
500ms 7.4
Thanking you,
Rahul
